New sewer tunnel Bromma - Sickla
A new 14 km long sewer tunnel is being built that will lead all wastewater from the western part of Stockholm to Henriksdal's treatment plant so that it can be treated with the new membrane technology.
With the new sewer tunnel, many discharge points along Lake Mälaren will be removed, which means that the emissions of untreated wastewater into the lake in the event of heavy rains will be reduced by 50%. In this way, the quality of the water in Lake Mälaren, which is Stockholm's drinking water source, will be improved.
